Karchev the Terrible
Karchev the Terrible, Man in the Machine, kad ir kaip išplaukęs (fotografuota mobiliaku kuris pasirodo neturi makro režimo. O senas turejo. God damn it.) Ir taip, aš dedu savo modeliu nuotraukas i feisbuka.

vs Imperial (Khador/pVlad) - Khador Training Camp

Vytzka:

Karchev the Terrible (-5)
- Juggernaut (7)
- Destroyer (9)
Widowmakers (4)

Imperial:

Vladimir Tzepesci, the Dark Prince (-5)
- Juggernaut (7)
- Drago (8)
War Dog (1) (kurį politinio korektiškumo vardan aš nesakysiu kuo jis proksino)
Widowmakers (4)

- dead - tough - POW! - dead for good).

Why is it that no roleplaying games set in Middle Earth allow Balrog player characters?

We have that nice little community on #rpgnet (irc.magicstar.net). Discussions are not always, or even most of the time, centered around gaming, though they usually are at least nominally related to it.

Also sometimes there's stuff said that's both disturbing and cool. Okay, make it a lot of times. Since I was the instigator of discussion today, I thought I'd save it for the future.

I apologize to most fans of Silmarillion, of course. I'm quite fond of it (and Fingolfin is one of my most favorite characters ever). However, some things just need to be said.

<vytzka>   argh
<vytzka>   I've been thinking of parallels between Fingolfin/Feanor and Cloud/Aeris
<Corvus>   ...
<vytzka>   Yalborap, get the hell out of my head
<Xyphoid>  haha
<Xyphoid>  harsh but accurate
<Corvus>   vytzka, have you been drinking? If not, you need to start.
<vytzka>   well I'm at work so it will have to wait
<vytzka>   but hear me out
<Yalborap> I didn't do it.
<vytzka>   first, Feanor's mom was totally an Ancient
<Corvus>   ...
<vytzka>   furthermore, when he left the rest of Noldor out in the north he didn't want to put them in unnecessary danger
<vytzka>   he just wanted to find White Materia
<vytzka>   and stop Morgoth
<vytzka>   but then right when Fingolfin found him, he got killed
<vytzka>   and they never had sex
<vytzka>   Bad End
<Corvus>   ...
<Corvus>   You have a date with a bottle, son.
<Corvus>   Medicate that mental illness.
<vytzka>   I swear, I haven't been drinking for days
<Corvus>   That might be the problem here.
<vytzka>   well it kind of ties into my whole semi-project to mix up Exalted and Silmarillion for a grand epic shonen anime campaign
<Corvus>   Hmm.
<vytzka>   (incidentally the idea gives my girlfriend, who loves both of the former, heart attacks and not the good kind)
<Xyphoid>  yeah that whole morgoth-fingolfin duel is totally set to be done in mecha
<vytzka>   you mean Warstriders
<vytzka>   see, I even mapped out the Exalt types to Middle Earth
<Xyphoid>  named grond and ringil of course
<Corvus>   Mmmm Grond.
<egyptian> "You'll have to train harder than that if you want to destroy Morgoth's ring!"
<vytzka>   Solars are obviously Noldor, kick ass but are kind of real crazy if you leave them alone too long
<Corvus>   So when Melkor and Ungoliant struck, that inflicted the Curse?
<vytzka>   Lunars are Telerin, nature boys who live in the woods and shapeshift into tyrannosauri
<vytzka>   Sidereals are Vanyar, shifty martial artists who work behind the scenes and never show up anywhere
<vytzka>   (if they exist at all)
<Corvus>   And spend all their time kissing divine butt.
<vytzka>   DBs are Edani or whatevet the hell those humies were called
<Xyphoid>  dbs = numenorians?
<vytzka>   pre-numenorean, obviously
<vytzka>   but same folk
<Xyphoid>  edain iirc
<vytzka>   could be
<vytzka>   and Abyssals are corrupted white haired bishi elves serving Morgoth
<vytzka>   NO ORCS
<Xyphoid>  and you know, it's all perfect since both are the prehistory of our world anyway
<vytzka>   yeah!
<Corvus>   ...
<vytzka>   that's what I'm talking about
* Corvus beats Xyph and vytzka both with something.
<Xyphoid>  tolkien orcs *might* be corrupted white haired bishi elves anyway
<vytzka>   they totally got hosed when the winners rewrote history
<Xyphoid>  the silmarillion isn't big on visual descriptions
<vytzka>   well
<vytzka>   I really didn't get the white haired bishi vibe
<vytzka>   but it's not like there's many named Orc characters, let alone in Silmarillion
<vytzka>   oh right
<vytzka>   and Infernals are Balrogs

I appear to have got a cold, so instead of working I'm sitting around at home, drinking tea and not doing much, and this will probably continue for the next several days.

If my head didn't hurt so much I might try reading something.

Need to dig up some ibuprofen, methinks.

I appear to have broken down and started drinking coffee after about... nine years or so without that questionable pleasure in my life. [info]cocaine_nose hooked me on mint mocha a while ago and a couple of days ago I decided I might try replicating some of that experience at home.

I failed miserably, of course, because I have neither an espresso machine nor anything to heat milk in, nor indeed milk or for that matter chocolate syrup. I have, however, managed to create something very vaguely similar and moderately drinkable out of instant coffee, cocoa powder, sugar and mint syrup. Now I only need some of that pressurized bottled whipped cream and I can live with this.

Needless to say it already tastes better than regular coffee but so does mineral oil, so it's not a particularly useful benchmark.

Aaaaaand I'm off to the theater because it's Monday.

...are kind of boring.

I need to stop buying shit I don't, strictly speaking, need off eBay. It's not particularly useful to put a stop to getting new 40k models if you immediately get headfirst into Epic. On the plus side it's not played by our local powergamer assholes, while on the minus side it's not played, by, well, pretty much anybody.

But come on. Thunderhawks? In plural? How cool is that?

Epic also allows me to get some Orks without compromising my integrity by asociating with the DAKKADAKKADAKKA dork brigade. And build a Flesh Tearers army that I always wanted. And that's it. I promise.

Maybe I should get some cheaper hobby. Like, say, crack. It would also be less addictive.

...is an awesome movie. I'm going to watch it right now and if you haven't seen it yet, rectify your mistake post haste.

Apparently these days if you're eating a large combo at McD, you're getting a coke can-shaped glass as a "gift". And they're differently colored each week. I'll have to get some more of them, they look pretty cool.

Of course I'm going to post some 40k stuff as well. What with the new Space Marine codex coming out in a couple of weeks or so (it's not like any of us haven't seen the scans already) I'm adding yet another character to my roster. Since this time you're freely allowed to use the "special characters" as generic templates for your own guys, I've dug out an obscure Imperial Fists character Harq Firmus to count as Vulkan He'stan. Moreover, since Vulkan doesn't even have an official model I'm making my own ghetto conversion.

Just about done with the new apartment - all the furniture is here already, I just need to collect all the miscellaneous stuff off the floor and put it on the shelves or some other places where it looked more fitting. Even internet connection got installed today, even though the bastards require me to also pay for cable TV to use that. Oh well, Olympic Games are pretty soon already.

Ithy is coming over for a visit in a couple of weeks. I love you, darling, and can't wait to see you again ^_^

I need to get around to painting my started Battletech minis. I'm going to use Legio Metalica livery on them. No, I don't care that I'm importing 40k imagery to Battletech universe and I really don't care that such resplendent looks would be more than impractical in a gritty tactical setting. I want flair with my giant machines of death, common sense be damned!

Oh, if someone knows a good recipe for tomato soup and would like to share, please do. Yes, I googled it and found a bunch of different ones, you can tell me about your version.

Last night I dreamed of finding a cover of some Dio song done by Helloween (Mystery?). Needless to say, I wasn't too happy after I waking up and remembering it didn't actually exist.

Actually, dreams of previously-unheard covers of either German power metal or NMWOBHM songs done by other German power metal bands are pretty common to me. But I'm not sure if it says more about me or the German power metal scene.

They should just release a joint cross-cover album - containing, you know, stuff like Helloween's "Salvation" covered by Iron Savior, Iron Savior's "Tyranny of Steel" covered by Gamma Ray, Gamma Ray's "Rebellion in Dreamland" covered by Blind Guardian, Blind Guardian's "Mirror Mirror" covered by Running Wild, Running Wild's "Chains and Leather" covered by Grave Digger, Grave Digger's "Battle of Bannockburn" covered by Freedom Call and Freedom Call's "Starlight" covered by Helloween.

And name it "The Circle Jerk".

I'd totally buy that.

Whoa, what a week. Quite a few things to talk of, and they're all connected.

Point one. I'm not studying anymore.

I just couldn't take it anymore without going insane. It all turned into a black pit of despair and depression when I tried and couldn't keep up with the university tasks if I wanted to keep my job. For some funny reason, Master's studies seem to require even more effort than Bachelor's. I somehow managed to finish my Bachelor's thesis last Spring but I don't believe I could ever survive such amounts of stress and mental exhaustion again.

And for what use? I'm becoming more and more cynical of the actual worth of this thing. Not only I haven't seen a single job ad in my sphere of work that would require a Master's degree - in my life. Not only over here, but when I was browsing through job proposals in Finland (of which more later) I couldn't find any, either.

Point two. In light of point one, Dad informs me in his "my way or the highway" style that if I don't want to study anymore, I'm welcome to move out of their home at the first opportunity. His advice in trying to get me to reconsider was "oh, you should drop doing absolutely everything else so you have more time for studies!". My remark about going insane even faster that way went over his head.

Point three. So I'm probably moving out very soon, and already have a couple of options to rent something. But that's a secondary goal, because of

Point four. I might be moving to Finland. I have a couple of companies that I've heard good things of, and I'm sure I have a shot at getting a job there (I already submitted an application to one that my very good friend works for). I'd like to live and work there for a couple to several years, or until I get bored. By then hopefully the housing market bubble has already died down over here (because fuck, if I have to take a mortgage for 30 years if I want to buy an apartment, someone must be doing something wrong) so I can move back here with my girlfriend. Assuming I get that job, that is.

At the cost of leaving a lot of my friends and relatives behind :( But Helsinki isn't that far away and I would definitely come back as often as I could.

But most of all, I can't believe how happy and relieved I feel now. Everything I do has a purpose, and I am as much in control of my own life and future as I have never been before.

Hell yes.

Douglas Adams once said this:

"I love deadlines. Especially the whooshing sound they make as they pass me by"

I just can't manage to do my tasks in time, especially when it piles up.

Right now I have a million of things to do for the University before the semester ends next weekend, then prepare for the exams and pass them all the while working on my Master's thesis parts scheduled for this semester because I didn't manage to do it earlier.

Instead I am able to concentrate on anything but.

That's me.

D:

Yes, including watching Youtube clips.

PS At least I get stuff done at work. Some of it, anyway.

Just got that thought listening to Queen over last.fm at work. I mean it's a great band, sure. But not something totally magnificent and unapproachable like some people make it to be. Not on the level of Beatles or Elvis or anything.

And Dio is totally a better singer than Freddy.

I'm listening to last.fm precisely because I left a lot of my CD collection over at Ithy's place (on purpose). But due to this I discovered Whitesnake, which is apparently a real cool band.

Exam session is over so I can sit around doing nothing at home for next couple of weeks. I might get my brand new Imperial Fists army composition done and painted in that time. Until I get bored with Terminators and Assault Cannons and buy a bunch of Land Raiders or something.

Well, I kinda had it before as well.

But it was in some need of fixing which I saw to this morning (after waiting like two months for my appointment with the dentist). So now it looks all shiny and new.

No, I didn't get the "grillz" spelling P I M P done in the same go. Why are you even asking, seriously now?

It also almost didn't hurt at all, just a little bit. I was pleasantly surprised as I'm one of those people who doesn't like having a high velocity drill stuck in their raw nerve endings at all.

Today I got a couple of books: Orson Scott Card's "Ender's Game" and "Ordo Xenos" part of Eisenhorn trilogy by Dan Abnett, both translated to Lithuanian. When am I going to have enough time to read them, I have no idea.

Universe deadlines are whooshing by at light speed. I guess I should really start doing something about it.
